Official Bio – Michael A. DeJesus III, Ph.D.
Dr. Michael A. DeJesus III is a nationally recognized leader in education policy, student success, and systems change. With over two decades of experience across higher education, state government, and the nonprofit sector, he brings a strategic and mission-driven approach to advancing opportunity, particularly for men in places where educational and economic gaps persist.
Dr. DeJesus holds the position of Director of Student Success and Access at the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), where he oversees multi-state initiatives aimed at enhancing postsecondary access, student sucess, course-sharing collaborations for Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority Serving Institutions, open educational resources (OER), regional reciprocity programs, and education policy across 16 states.
A first-generation college graduate, Dr. DeJesus holds a Ph.D. in Education Policy, Research, and Administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He has been honored as a Forty Under 40 awardee, serves on multiple executive boards, and is known for his ability to connect people, ideas, and systems to create lasting impact.
Whether advising state policy leaders, connecting with educators, mentoring youth, or speaking on national platforms, Dr. DeJesus leads with vision, service, and purpose.
